Forever a Sectret (excerpt)

Lisa stood outside her friends sitting room door, after excusing herself, not quite believing what
she had heard.  She had been invited over for the weekend as her flat was being decorated.
Wendy had decided to call a few friends up and have a girls night in since her husband was
having a boys night out.  It was now Lisa realised she had really lost touch with Wendy, her best
friend .  Until now it seemed.  Wendy continued her story as she poured another drink for
herself.  She had met a man on Saturday night last week while out with the girls.  They had left
together but this part everyone seemed to know about, except Lisa.  Continuing the update she
told all including that she was to meet him tomorrow afternoon.

Lisa heard someone saying they had to go so she tip toed back up the stairs and hid around the
corner at the top until they had gone, she then went back downstairs to join the others in the
hope Wendy’s conversation had come to an end.  It had and the rest of the night went by a little
easier for Lisa.  Eventually the rest of the girls left so Lisa said goodnight and went up to the spare
room.  It had been an eventful evening to say the least and she needed this time to let it all sink
in.  She never would have believed it if Wendy had not said it herself.  Wendy and Graham had
always seemed so happy together, they were in their third year of marriage.  The more she tried
to comprehend this the harder it became.  It was late before she finally drifted off to sleep, she
heard Graham coming in so turned the lamp off, she lay for a while trying to work out how she

could face him next day before finally drifting of to sleep.

“Honey, I have to go into town today do you need anything while I’m there?”  Wendy stood in the
kitchen smiling as she spoke.
Lisa felt sorry for Graham as she watched him gently  kissing her on the cheek.  “Do you want a
shopping  partner?”  She could not help it she felt she had to do something to try and stop this.
Wendy threw her a glance which could have had frozen her to the spot.  “No thanks, I’m only in and out really.  Just a few things I need.”  With that she started cooking breakfast.

The rest of the morning went quietly as Wendy went about tidying, Lisa helped and Graham watched TV. Wendy then got herself ready to go.  After she left Lisa started to feel a little awkward.  She could sense Graham staring at her and was too scared to even glance his way incase he started up a conversation, she would ‘put her foot in it’ she knew she would.  She continued watching TV getting more tense by the second.

Steve watched as she sat on the sofa legs curled underneath her.  He followed her legs to where her dressing gown stopped his view, as she moved to get comfortable the dressing gown fell revealing her thighs.  He could see her getting tense and curling up tighter the longer he watched but he could not and did not want to stop.  He stood up and walked across putting his hands on her shoulders, rubbing the tenseness out of her.  He felt her stiffen as his hands moved further down the front with each movement.  “Shh, it’s fine.  Promise.”

Chapter Four excerpt

Beth and Brian stood outside talking for a while before actually knocking on the door. This was actually the longest they had spent alone together for a long time, though neither would admit it, neither of them wanted to knock on the door. So they stood for a while longer making ‘small talk’ laughing about old times and waiting on Morgan. Eventually Morgan came sauntering around the corner head held high with an air of gold and silver aura surrounding her. As Beth recalled Morgan always had a very dark aura almost purple/black her Aunt Laura always had a yellow/gold aura and Morgan’s mother had said to have had the same until the very end. Beth wished she weren’t the only one who seen these things, it felt selfish not to share something like this Morgan looked positively magical coming towards them but to Brian she was just Morgan. Beth searched for an answer from Morgan but Morgan only beamed a huge smile at her and winked. When she winked Beth felt her own emotions change she felt powerful and confident her aura had changed too. Instead of the normal blue/red aura she had changed to almost yellow/blue/pale green all entwined around her she almost understood what had happened to Morgan now. Beth felt another presence within herself, possibly several more. Morgan definitely had many more. Beth felt Morgan reading her thoughts and smiled and then blushed “We were just talking. Stop snooping anyway” Brian looked slightly dismayed at the sight of Morgan coming around the corner. Now they had to go and join the others and as an afterthought “Sam”.

Joanne opened the door and all three followed her through to the sitting room. Joanne was obviously in charge of the music as Duran Duran played in the background. After a few moments she took Beth through to the kitchen to speak to her privately. There were two topics of conversation. Matt and his kissing. All be it was a one way conversation but Beth was glad they had finally made a move instead of what she was doing, wishing, hoping, and waiting. She had to face it, while Sam was still around there was no hope and as and after thought there was David.

Brian interrupted sometime later, he was making up his famous cocktails again. Morgan had gained control of the music and Poison were now playing. He sat for a while just telling jokes and having a laugh. The music in the sitting room got louder and had now switched to Motley Crue. The three rolled their eyes at each other and decided Morgan’s music time was over, so they went through to the sitting room helping with the glasses for the cocktails and Joanne promptly shook her head at Morgan before changing the music and switching it back to Pop music. Sam was the first to question Joanne and Matt but she was not easily divulged they kept quiet about it and basically, in not so many words, she was told to back off.

As the night went on the group got quite drunk. Sam saw her chance a kiss with David in a game of dares what could go wrong. Morgan was delighted. Truth or dare was perfect for her plan. Beth passed Morgan an “I told you so” glance and smiled. They were one step closer to the initiation. Matt had fallen asleep on the sofa so was not involved in the game itself. At first the dares were childish and immature slowly getting more and more up front and personal. Sam got her kiss although to her surprise it was Beth who had dared her. Beth had wanted to find out just how far Sam would go before she thought any more about Brian. David had nearly ruined Morgan’s plan by asking Brian to stay in the old Victorian workhouse for the night but at the same time Morgan had thought quick and before the whole group were aware of it. “I’ll tell you what. I’ll stay there at the workhouse all night if you stay at the museum all night.” Brian was stunned he had not said that out loud, had he? “Ok why don’t we make it a group dare all of us have to stay at the museum in amongst the mummies and the stuffed animals oh and don’t forget the insects” he gave the girls a quick sarcastic look of disgust and then it struck him. Those were not his intentions. This had not been his idea the words sounded hollow as he thought about them. Beth and Morgan agreed both smiling sarcastically back at David. They were all staying in the museum overnight. Tomorrow night.

"The Living Nightmare" Chapter Three Excerpt

If you are new to "The living nightmare" You may want to try reading the Introduction, chapter one excerpt or chapter two excerpt first :) happy reading

Chapter Three Excerpt

This information had been passed through many generations but those who did not believe in magic of course told a more logical tale. The only logical way it could have ended was that the two tribes had wiped each other out. The new generation was vulnerable to this logical version but Morgan’s Family and some of her friends knew all too well about the curse. People had seen it, strange scenes in the night hours, a little boy running around shouting on Mary in the early hours. An old man screaming for his wife to let him in but a resident in that street had seen him buried only the day before. The list was endless. Morgan and Beth had tried to study these places and visions from afar sometimes with nothing to show for it, other times the nightmares would follow. So vivid. So terrifying. So real.
Morgan reached the entrance of the mausoleum. She took the keys from her pocket and unlocked the door. It had been eight-month since she had last been here. She stepped inside and reached for the torch, which hung on the wall behind the door. She took the matches which were kept on the shelf underneath and lit it. After closing the door behind her she followed the passageway and reached the top of the stairs as she got half way down she lit the next torch. She followed the stairs down the first level and stood in front of her mother’s casket. Beside that were her grandmothers and her great grandmothers. She stood for a while just running her hand across the top of her mother’s casket not quite knowing what to say. “Please understand why I have not been to visit mother. I was afraid, I didn’t know what I’d find but I see now you are still at peace and I am happy for you.” Morgan felt a stray tear run down her cheek and choked back another. “Aunt Laura has said I am ready, I feel I am but I need you to tell me.” Morgan took a deep breath and continued “I know you cannot answer from this plane of life so I will travel to yours.”
At this Morgan turned from the casket toward the door at the back of the room, she opened the door as she had done many times before and went down another two flights of steps lighting the torch at the top of each flight as she went. The door at the bottom was always kept locked so Morgan reached for her keys again. She unlocked the door and stepped inside closing the door behind her. This room was different from the rest. It was larger but only held three caskets. One for Sarah Faith, One for her son Sean and a last one for his wife. There was a torch in this room, unlike the others. Morgan lit the torch and looked around. It smelt dusky and damp. There were more cobwebs than last time she had been but she done her best not to brush them away. She kneeled by the first casket and started to chant. “Sarah, Ye bringer of my life to this land. Ye bringer of magic to my life. Great ancestor of mine. Grant me strength to yield up to the highest ground. Grant me strength to reach my mother, grant my safety.” She stood up and moved to the casket behind Sarah’s. “Sean, ye keeper of our name Keeper of magic in my life Grant me Safety so thee may return Grant me power to rise to the astral” Morgan felt herself begin to sway the room began to brighten and the view began to change. In a dream like sensation she felt as though she were floating vertically upward although she could still feel the floor underneath her. When she looked down she could see two caskets with one male one female looking up at her, smiling. She had no ground beneath her feet but kept searing higher until she could see the sky underneath her and beneath that she could see the tomb.

She began to slow and eventually came to a halt. Her mother stood in front she did not look the same anymore she looked more beautiful, wiser and younger. “Morgan, Listen to your Aunt. I am not worthy of given such advice to you, I was saved because I took my own life instead of others. The evil inside became unbearable. Still, I believe if Laura has said you are ready then let it be. I will be proud of you, be sure of that. You must go now. Sean calls you back. I love you Morgan.” She kissed Morgan on the forehead and then Morgan was back inside the tomb. Alone.

"The Living Nightmare" Chapter Two Excerpt

If this is your first visit you may want to catch up a little first with the following Excerpts from The Living Nightmare.

Introduction

Chapter One Excerpt

Teaser Excerpt

The rest of the group where in their last English class, which had also, been proclaimed as free time. Brian sat quietly and mused over the last few years. Was it time he was moving on in life? What would he do? He watched the others silently smiling to himself at the thought of Joanne and Matt ever making a move on each other and then the smile faded as he watched Sam getting in the way of their moment. Why was she always there, getting in the way, so rough around the edges? She just didn’t fit, anywhere. He wondered if he was being too harsh on her, was it him? He hung on this thought for a moment, was that his life? Sam, Himself and some little kid stuck in some broken down old flat? He sighed to himself he had to get out and soon. If he didn’t he would suffocate and he had watched his own father doing that for too long now.

The group met up at lunchtime all even more excited about the end of school. Morgan and Brian where always the quiet ones so no one noticed as they sat just listening to the others go on about what life held next. Morgan paid particular attention to David during the excitement and laughter going on. She sensed sincerity within him. She could have easily solved her curiosity by reading his thoughts but she feared he would blame Beth, as he always seemed to know when this was happening. The rest of the group occasionally felt the sensation if Beth was reading thoughts as she was not as discreet as Morgan but it still irritated Morgan that David knew every time either one of them tried. She watched as he held her hand on the table and then she caught a look at Brian.

He was sat back in his chair desperately not trying to look in Beth’s direction, she took a glimpse into his thoughts and was a little relieved to see only sadness there. For a moment she had thought he might punch David right there & then but he was fighting with his own troubles at the moment and she did not wish to intrude on them uninvited.

Joanne & Matt messed around as usual but they seemed more relaxed than before, even closer than before. Morgan cheated as she read Matt’s thoughts, she was surprised by her find. Joanne however was ever the naive one with no idea of what was going on. Beth looked over in Morgan’s direction with a smile on her face so wide as she sent her message. “I caught you cheating but you didn’t catch me! I’m getting better all the time”
Morgan smiled bashfully as she realised Beth had caught her unaware her smiled became triumphant as she realised her confirmation was there, they really were both ready for the initiation.
Beth smiled triumphantly back at her. Brian caught this and wondered what tricks they had up their sleeves this time something for the party no doubt, He smiled, ‘this should be fun’ he thought.

Laura surrounded the girls in her own aura as she spoke this caused a hypnotic state on the girls as she manipulated their aura making it take in hers. “Every light creates a shadow as does the darkness become the shadow. Some men choose to stand in the light, others in the darkness. Be ye always aware that where you stand is a matter of choice and let not the shadow creep over you unaware. Let ye also be aware that if you choose to stand in the light it will bend to your will with ease. If you choose to stand in the darkness you will wield a mighty power but thy will never completely yield the shadow to your order.” Laura stood back taking with her the aura she had given during this lesson of preparation for the initiation and after motioning the sign of the Ankh towards Morgan and Beth they both came too and stood up. Laura presented them with their sigils (symbols of safety) two small white satin bags containing a canine tooth from Morgan’s Wolf Taurus, they had been his puppy teeth fallen out many years ago, each was coated solid silver and hung from a silver chain. This was all in preparation for the initiation they had to go through “put them on girls.”
“It’s beautiful Laura” Beth said in awe
“This is the sigit I choose for you both to use during the initiation, I wish it to protect the both of you. You are both ready now and I wish you both a good fate and a strong will.”
